New Years Resolution: Improve yourself in 2012 and tell your story on snd.org

In 2012 SND will host a Year-Long Conversation about all things news design. The conversation will take place on the site and at various events around the world.

To kick start one part of that effort, we are on the hunt for five visual journalists who wish to take part in a 2012 experiment: We are looking for people who want to learn and improve themselves in the coming year and we want to document it.

If you are planning to learn new skills in the coming year, we want to follow your progress and share your journey on SND.org. If you’re interested in sharing your journey with SND members and visitors to our site, please send the following information to Joe Greco by Friday, Dec. 30, 2011.

Include this information

Age:
Title/employer:
City/state/country:

What you hope to learn and why:

If anyone is interested in allowing SND to follow your 2012 resolution of self-improvement, please send the above information to:

Where’s Your Head At

Basement Jaxx: Where’s Your Head At (by Max Hattler) from Max Hattler on Vimeo.

Connect four on the disco dance floor.
Light, liquid, shape and colour locked into a pixel playground.
This is the film festival version of a commission for British dance duo Basement Jaxx. During their concerts, the film is shown on a giant 7 x 2 meter LED screen behind the band. The concept of the film is based on the grid structure of the screen itself. The LED screen is made up of 60 square panels, four rows of 15. Each of the blocks that make up the screen becomes a tile in the overall picture, a pixel in the construction of the visual narrative.
